What was the inspiration for the look? Did you collaborate with the costume designer on creating them?
We were so stoked once we saw our costumes. We told the stylist Izolina De Vasconcelos that it was like all of our Matrix dreams come through! She found all of the grain-of-gold accessories at these Johannesburg markets like only a local can.
At first they wanted us to wear heels, but we both brought our own pair of black Eytys Kibo boots from Sweden to wear instead, and everyone loved that look. We’ve always been puzzled by how female characters constantly wear heels in fight scenes, and thought of it as something we wouldn’t do. So we were like, “You don’t bring heels to a gunfight.
